About Us: A Message From the CEO & President of Bend Research Inc.
 At Bend Research,
our core business is the development of new technologies for the
pharmaceutical industry. We began operations in Central Oregon
in 1975 and, since that time, have focused on applying
fundamental scientific and engineering principles to understand
our clients’ needs, to help our clients define their problems, and to provide enabling, novel, and proprietary new
technologies to address those needs.
Our most valuable asset is our staff. The people of Bend
Research work well together in innovative teams dedicated to the
relentless application of scientific and engineering knowledge
towards technology development. Our staff of approximately 157 represents multiple disciplines including
physics, chemistry, engineering, biology, and pharmaceutics. One
of our priorities at Bend Research is maintaining an
intellectually challenging environment that provides growth
opportunities for our employees. Staff members are encouraged to
expand their expertise through continual exposure to new
technical challenges, professional training, and interactions
with top scientists from other organizations throughout the world.
With the skill sets and experience of our
staff, as well as our three state-of-the-art facilities, Bend
Research is “vertically integrated” in the continuum of
development, from conception to scale-up to commercialization of
novel pharmaceutical technologies. In our Tumalo laboratories,
we conceive, explore the feasibility of, and characterize new
approaches to meet needs for pharmaceutical technologies. In our
new Corporate Place pilot facility, we develop processes and
scale up these new technologies, as well as design and construct
novel equipment. And in our cGMP facility—Bend Research
Pharmaceutical Process Development (BRPPD)—we reduce these
technologies to practice through the manufacture of clinical
supplies. Finally, Bend Research scientists and engineers are
involved in the scale-up and transfer of pharmaceutical
processes into commercial manufacturing plants across the globe.
